Gas Leasing In The Southern Tier

Home

ATTENTION SOUTHERN TIER LANDOWNERS...

Southern Tier landowners are encouraged to join a Southern Tier Landowners Coalition, Group, or Association to negotiate better gas leases, obtain higher signing bonuses and royalties, and protection of your property and the environment.

Joining one of the Southern Tier Landowners Coalition, Groups, and Associations listed below is the your best option for negotiating a gas lease in the Southern Tier.

Because a gas lease is a legal contract between Southern Tier Landowners and gas companies, be sure your lease negotiator or lease specialist is a practicing lawyer who is experienced in gas leasing.  Many of the Southern Tier Landowners Coalition, Groups, and Associations listed below have gone (or are going) through an attorney selection and interviewing process.  A well organized landowner coalition, group, or association working in combination with an experienced lawyer can negotiate the best gas lease for you and your property.

A couple of key points to remember when thinking about gas leasing in the Southern Tier:
  1. Join one of the Southern Tier Landowners Coalition, Groups, or Associations listed below.  If there is not a landowner coalition in your area, then talk to your neighbors and form your own group.  Feel free to contact the landowner coalitions below - all are more than willing to share information and resources - we all need to stick together!

  2. Get yourself educated about the gas leasing and exploration process.  The landowner organizations listed below have numerous resources to help educate their members and are willing to share this information freely.

  3. Once you get involved with one of the Southern Tier Landowners Coalition, Groups, or Associations listed below, stick with the group and don't fall for the scare tactics and games the gas companies and landmen will try to use to break up the groups.

  4. Spread the word among neighbors and keep each other informed!

  5. Be sure the landowner coalition is working with an attorney experienced in gas leasing to serve as the lease negotiator or leasing specialist.

  6. Be patient - time is on all of our sides - the gas companies are here to stay and natural gas exploration in the Southern Tier will continue to move forward and expand.
